Rosa had her MRI scan today. It went well. We were at the hospital from 7.15am till about 3.45. Lots of hanging around and waiting but it was fine. The staff were all so nice. There were loads of great toys and other kids to play with so Rosa had fun. She went for the scan about about 11 after a huge row to get her to wear the hospital gown. She had a general Anestethic, given by gas. Knocked her out after one breath. The scan took 45 mins and she was back on the ward by about 12.15. Very upset and crying. It took a while to calm her down but she eventually went back to sleep and slept till about 2pm. I lay down with her and had a doze too.
When she woke up she had some toast and juice, (She had been fasting since the night before). We watched about 100 episodes of Peppa pig on the lap top. More screams and crying while she had her final vitals taken again and had the drip removed but she has been totally fine since.
I spoke to the doc and he's very happy with the results of the scan. It's hard for us to imagine because we didn't know her when she was sick but according to him and the medical jargan she had a very serious heart defect. He said her condition now and recovery are very excellent considering that. There is some thinning of the walls of one of the valves, (I think, he used a lot of big words). He wants to do a small procedure in a few months which will involve inserting a balloon into the valve. It's a day procedure, they go in through the leg so it doesn't involve any cutting.
She probably will have to go under the knife again but he hopes not for several more years.
In the mean time she'll have regular check ups and be monitered.
So that's it for now
