Rosa had her MRI scan today. It went well. We were at the hospital from 7.15am till about 3.45. Lots of hanging around and waiting but it was fine. The staff were all so nice. There were loads of great toys and other kids to play with so Rosa had fun. She went for the scan about about 11 after a huge row to get her to wear the hospital gown. She had a general Anestethic, given by gas. Knocked her out after one breath. The scan took 45 mins and she was back on the ward by about 12.15. Very upset and crying. It took a while to calm her down but she eventually went back to sleep and slept till about 2pm. I lay down with her and had a doze too.
When she woke up she had some toast and juice, (She had been fasting since the night before). We watched about 100 episodes of Peppa pig on the lap top. More screams and crying while she had her final vitals taken again and had the drip removed but she has been totally fine since.
I spoke to the doc and he's very happy with the results of the scan. It's hard for us to imagine because we didn't know her when she was sick but according to him and the medical jargan she had a very serious heart defect. He said her condition now and recovery are very excellent considering that. There is some thinning of the walls of one of the valves, (I think, he used a lot of big words). He wants to do a small procedure in a few months which will involve inserting a balloon into the valve. It's a day procedure, they go in through the leg so it doesn't involve any cutting.
She probably will have to go under the knife again but he hopes not for several more years.
In the mean time she'll have regular check ups and be monitered.
So that's it for now

Tayto Park
We had a lovely day out at Tayto park last week. Tayto are a brand of crisps here and the Tayto company have created this fun park beside the Tayto factory. It's realy good actually, It has a lovely farm and great playgrounds. We had a lovely day although both Ian and Andrey suffered a bit with the heat. It was a very warm day.
And we got a free gift of 18 packets of Tayto crisps.

New Calling
On Tuesday February 22nd the President O'Farrell, the Stake President Caled Ian to be the Bishop of Clonsilla ward. To say he was surprised would be an understatement. I think he was the only one though. I wasn't surprised and had been expecting it.
I feel that the Lord started to bless our family immediately. It's been a busy time. Ian has been out a lot more, I've been at home alone in the evenings a lot more. Sunday's are long for him. But I feel and increase in spirituality in our home and I feel very blessed.
It's great to serve the Lord. I'm sure there will be challenges and difficulties but all these things are sent to help us learn and grow.

Snow days
We've had snow for the past week and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I've worked out that in the last 13 months I've experienced 2 full months of snow. 5 weeks in Russia, 2 weeks in January and the last week. That is probably more snow than I've experienced in the whole rest of my previous life.
Anyway. Andrey has been off school. My school has been open but with very few pupils. In fact today there were only two and one was Rosa. We haven't been anywhere and I am going mad.
I took the photos earlier in the week. It has snowed a lot more since then and it's much deeper. The 'cold snap' as the weather men are referring to is as is set to continue for another few days.

Halloween cookies
Today we had fun decorating Halloween cookies. I'll admit that I bought the kit from Superquinn. The kids had a great time. How could they not.cookies, icing and sweets. I'm really not sure about that black icing though, it dyed everything it touched, fingers, tongues, teeth.

Football Football Football
As soon as I started going out with Ian I knew that football was going to be a big part of my life. It is his greatest love (apart from me and the kids....and the gospel etc, you know what I mean)
Anyway almost as soon as Andrey could walk he was kicking a ball and finally this year he has started to play football competitively. He is in the Corduff football club under 7's . Training is Mondays and Wednesdays with matches every Saturday morning.
Andrey totally loves it. He's not the best player on the field but he's good natured and does his best. He never complains when he's substituted off and is always encouraging to his team mates. So far his team are doing pretty well and have won 3 out of 4 matches.

General Conference
I thought that this year it was time that my kids started to watch general conference. I planned treats an activities and even put up the tent so we could 'place the door of the tent towards the tower (computer).
Due to the time difference the Saturday morning session started at 5pm. It went ok for a while but after about a hour it descended into mayhem.
Sunday was better. I had less treats and activities and it worked better somehow.
Anyway. I guess we're just making habits. Eventually they will listen and learn something.
